Surviving a breakup can be tough I know...believe me, I've had a bit of experience in that field myself. I'm here to tell you though, if you handle it properly a lot of things become possible. You can end up coming out of this better than when you went in, and could even get your ex back!

Let's look at an example of how you SHOULDN'T handle a breakup:

Elizabeth's boyfriend dumped her a week before Christmas, and it slammed her so hard she lost all of her usual holiday spirit. She receded into herself and was utterly miserable. She turned her back on her friends and rarely left her house, and left countless messages on her ex's voicemail begging him to take her back, eventually making him so sick of her that he blocked her number. Elizabeth spent Christmas depressed and alone.

If you look at this story, you may notice a few things you recognize that sound a little familiar...and chances are you may be able to spot some of her mistakes. Now let's look at a different example, of somebody who made better choices and handled the breakup the way it should be.

It was also two weeks before Christmas when Amanda's boyfriend broke things off, and while it hurt more than anything else in her life, Amanda wasn't going to let herself ruin her chances to get him back. Amanda let him go, and turned to her friends for comfort and support, which they gladly gave with all their hearts. When Christmas came, she did her best to enjoy it with her family and friends, and that weekend at a New Years' party she came across her ex-boyfriend. They talked a while and both admitted to how hard the holidays had been without each other, and parted ways with a date set to have coffee.
